Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of these Terms
By downloading, accessing, or using Spendly, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. What Spendly is (and is not)
Spendly is a personal finance tracking and AI money-coaching app for recording expenses, budgeting, and general money-habit guidance.
Spendly is not a bank, lender, payment institution, broker, or licensed financial, investment, legal, or tax advisor. It does not hold your money, connect to your bank, or execute transactions. It is a personal tool, not a regulated financial service.
3. Not financial, legal, or tax advice
- All content, numbers, “Money Age”, “safe to spend”, budgets, and AI coach responses are provided for general, educational, informational purposes only. They are not personalized financial, investment, legal, or tax advice and must not be relied on as such.
- Calculations use simplified formulas and the data you enter; they may be approximate or incomplete.
- You are solely responsible for your financial decisions. Consider a qualified professional for advice specific to your situation.
4. AI features — current status and limitations
- Spendly’s AI coaching, expense parsing, and reports currently run on built-in rule-based logic (“mock AI”). Full cloud-based AI is not enabled yet.
- Voice entry, receipt scanning (OCR), and Auto-Track are simulated demonstrations and do not process real audio, images, SMS, or bank data.
- AI and automated output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your circumstances. Always review suggestions and figures yourself. Do not treat AI output as professional advice (see Section 3).
5. Accounts
- Accounts are optional; Spendly works locally without one.
- If you create an account, you must provide accurate information (an email) and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- You must be at least 13 years old and legally able to enter this agreement.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or the law.
6. Your data and content
- You retain ownership of the data you enter. You grant us only the limited rights needed to operate the features you use (e.g. storing and syncing your data if you sign in), as described in the Privacy Policy.
- Local-first: by default your data stays on your device. Cloud sync is optional and only occurs if you sign in.
- You are responsible for keeping your own backups. Uninstalling the app removes all local data; “Delete transaction data” removes your expenses. If you have no account, deleted data may be unrecoverable.
7. Subscriptions and payments (“Spendly Pro”)
- Spendly may offer an optional paid “Pro” subscription.
- When live, subscriptions are sold and processed by the Apple App Store, Google Play, and our provider [RevenueCat] — not by us directly. Their terms, pricing display, billing, renewals, and refund policies apply.
- Auto-renewal: subscriptions typically renew automatically until cancelled; you manage and cancel them through your Apple ID or Google Play account settings. Any free trial converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled before it ends, per the store’s rules.
- Current status: the in-app “Pro”/trial is presently a local toggle only — there is no real charge and no purchase yet. Real billing is not live.
- Losing Pro (expiry or cancellation) re-locks premium features only; it does not delete your expenses, budgets, settings, or exports.
- Refunds, where applicable, are handled by the relevant app store under its policies.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use Spendly for unlawful purposes;
- attempt to breach security, access other users’ data, or bypass row-level access controls;
- reverse-engineer, disrupt, or overload the app or its providers; or
- misuse AI features to generate unlawful or harmful content.
9. Third-party services
Spendly relies on third-party providers (e.g. [Supabase] for accounts and sync; [Apple], [Google], and [RevenueCat] for subscriptions). Your use of those features is also subject to those providers’ terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.
10. Availability and changes
- We provide Spendly on an “as is” and “as available” basis and may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.
- Features described in the app that are labelled as demos or “coming soon” may change or may not ship.
11. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Spendly and its content are provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that calculations or AI output are accurate or suitable for your needs.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any financial losses, decisions, or outcomes arising from your use of (or reliance on) Spendly, including AI output and calculations. Our total liability, where liability cannot be excluded, is limited to the amount you paid us in the previous 12 months, or 100 SAR if you have not made any payment.
13. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the app or violation of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.
14. Termination
You may stop using Spendly at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms or as required by law. Provisions that by their nature should survive (e.g. Sections 3, 11, 12, and 13) survive termination.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be handled in the Courts of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date; continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance, where permitted by law.
